From Sacred Tovkhon to Peaceful Ugii Lake: 6-Day Journey Through Mongolia’s Nature

Our journey continues toward the beautiful valley of the Orkhon River, known for its stunning landscapes covered with basalt rock formations.

Along the way, we will visit the Uurtin Tokhoi Cliffs along the river and explore the camel-shaped stone burial monuments dating back to the periods of the Turkic Khaganate (552–744 CE) and the Uyghur Khaganate (744–840 CE).

In the afternoon, we will enjoy a hiking excursion around the spectacular Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall, located on the Orkhon River, and admire the surrounding natural beauty.

One of Mongolia’s most spiritual and energetically significant places is Tövkhön Monastery. This historic monastery is located at an altitude of 2,312 meters above sea level on the rocky summit of Shiveet Ulaan Mountain.

To reach the monastery, we will take a gentle mountain hike lasting approximately 3 hours. The panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes from the top is truly breathtaking.

Continuing our journey, we will visit Kharkhorum, the capital of the world’s most powerful empire during the 13th century.

From the hills, you can admire the vast landscape of the Orkhon Valley and visit the monument featuring a map of the Mongol Empire.

Located in the Orkhon River Valley, modern-day Kharkhorin City and the ancient Erdene Zuu Monastery stand side by side.

We will explore the active temples and museum of the monastery, as well as the Turtle Stone Monument, which once marked the boundaries of the ancient city of Kharkhorum.

Afterward, we will visit the Kharkhorum Museum, and if desired, continue to the Khoshoo Tsaidam Museum, which showcases important historical remains from the Turkic period.

In the evening, we will stay near Ogii Lake, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful walk along the lakeshore.

This is the final day of your journey to experience the natural beauty of Mongolia.

Early in the morning, we will depart from Ogii Lake and drive approximately 5 hours back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in the city, you will have free time to explore.

Beginning from Sukhbaatar Square, the heart of the capital, we will visit the Government Palace and the statue of Chinggis Khaan, then continue to Gandantegchinlen Monastery to discover Mongolia’s Buddhist cultural heritage.

At noon, you will have the opportunity to taste traditional Mongolian dishes such as buuz (steamed dumplings) and khuushuur (fried meat pastries) at local restaurants along the central road.

Continuing the tour, we will visit the National Museum of Mongolia to gain a brief overview of the history and culture of Mongolian nomadic civilization.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Gobi Cashmere Store to explore Mongolian cashmere products. As evening approaches, we will visit Zaisan Hill and enjoy the beautiful view of Ulaanbaatar’s illuminated cityscape.

You will have free time until your departure flight. At the scheduled time, our company driver will transfer you to the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable journey through Mongolia.
