Khurgan Lake

Khurgan Lake is one of the major freshwater lakes in Bayan-Olgii Province. Together with Khoton Lake, it contributes to the flow of the Khovd River. Both lakes, along with Dayan Lake, are of glacial origin and represent some of the largest and most scenic high-mountain lakes in western Mongolia.

Travel Tips

Photography:
The shores of Khurgan Lake offer excellent views of the snow-capped peaks of the Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains. On calm days, the reflections of the mountains on the lake’s surface create one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region.

Road Conditions:
Access to the area is challenging, with rough terrain and river crossings along the way. It is strongly recommended to travel with a reliable 4x4 vehicle and an experienced driver.

Nearby Attractions:

Visitors can cross the “Sirt” bridge connecting Khurgan and Khoton Lakes, and also take trips on foot or horseback to the nearby Baga Turgen Waterfall, one of the region’s most beautiful natural attractions.

• Ойр орчим: Хотон болон Хурган нуурыг холбосон "Сирт"-ийн гүүрээр гарч үзэх, мөн ойролцоо орших Бага Түргэний хүрхрээ рүү явган болон мориор аялах боломжтой.
